Knife Sharpening Table
A knife sharpening stone is a tool used to sharpen knives and give them a cutting edge. They are usually made of natural or artificial stones and can be of varying degrees of smoothness. Before using a knife sharpening stone, wet or oil the stone before use. Wetting or oiling the stone allows the blade to make better contact with the surface and reduces friction. Place the blade at a right angle to the stone. This is usually an angle between 20 and 30 degrees. To find the right angle, place the blade on the stone and then move it up or down slightly so the edge of the blade comes into contact with the stone. Move the blade smoothly and steadily over the stone. The tip of the knife should be directed towards the stone. Be careful to sharpen the blade equally in both directions.
